The power and beauty of the marimba are brought to life through a soulful, understated composition by Bryce Dessner.

Tromp Miniature is a work for solo marimba, commissioned in 2014 by the TROMP International Percussion Competition in Eindhoven. From its sweetly simple opening, the piece becomes awash with lyricism and tension, before ending with a peaceful lullaby.

This gentle marimba gem became the centre of a unique recording project for Colin, who performed the work at home during lockdown. Now, having moved beyond our memories of isolation into a more wholesome chapter in music-making, Colin’s performance captures the reflective and nostalgic nature of this transitional moment in time.
